Description
The Altars Series explores the idea that all faiths spring from the same Source, sharing their core values and offering valuable insights to all humanity. The intention of these pieces is to harmoniously combine sacred elements from many different cultures.
At the bottom is the West African adinkra symbol called "asase ye duru - "the Earth has weight", signifying the divinity of Mother Earth.
A Celtic triskelion (triple spiral) expresses cyclic nature, as well as the notion of Trinity be it Spirit, Mind and Body, or Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The wings are influenced by ancient Egyptian art, and represent divinity, freedom and ascension. At center is the Tree of Life a concept found in many mythologies. It symbolizes the interconnectedness of all life, and the connection between Heaven and Earth.
A single eye gazes benevolently representing the omniscient, unifying presence of the Cosmic Consciousness. It is crowned with the Flame of Wisdom a Buddhist icon that expresses wisdom, goodness or enlightenment.
The buds of the Golden Lotus flank this spire, symbolizing the holy, the noble and the auspicious.
